About the Calculator
Single stock futures (SSF) can be used as speculative or hedging vehicles with unique characteristics and potential benefits, and provide an alternate method for financing equity transactions. OneChicago’s Single-Stock Futures Calculator can help you quickly and easily calculate and compare the costs involved between an equity stock and a futures position. See which vehicle might make more sense for you. You simply pick the stock or exchange-traded fund (ETF) future you wish to trade from a drop-down menu, then compare the equivalent single-stock futures product. You will see a quick calculation of the costs involved in buy or sell positions. On the long side, you will see the difference in the amount of money required to finance the position(s). The calculator breaks down the difference and shows how that money could be used to improve your cost of capital. On the sell side, the transaction will be broken down both on the financing as well as the return on your short stock (if you state a rebate return with your selection).
There are over 500 stocks listed on the exchange, along with the ETF futures on the DIAMONDS®, the Power Shares QQQ®, the Russell 2000®, the SPY ® and the SPY ® sub-indices for energy (XLE), financial (XLF), utilities (XLU), and healthcare (XLV).
*Security futures are not suitable for all customers. Before investing in a security futures product, please contact Lind-Waldock at 800-445-2000 for a copy of the required Security Futures Risk Disclosure Statement (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). There is a substantial risk of loss in trading futures and options. February 22, 2008.
