Statement:
I believe that in order to benefit from the financial markets effectively, one must recognize that futures contracts are complex and powerful tools that can be used to accomplish specific financial objectives. Therefore, I work with clients to give each individual a complete understanding of these tools and how to use them efficiently to meet their unique financial objectives.Industry Background:
I began my career at one of the major Canadian banks in 1998 where I worked in a variety of accounting capacities relating to equities, bonds, futures, and OTC derivatives. In 2001, I moved into the commodity futures industry to work as a broker specializing in the futures and options markets. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and am a Chartered Financial Analyst.Market Focus:
I have a very top-down approach to market analysis. First I work to understand the broad global macro trends, geopolitical developments, and the supply and demand balance of various commodity groups. From that I develop specific futures and options trading strategies to capture profits from these trends. Markets that are frequently used to capture these trends are the financial futures including currencies, interest rates, and equity indices, as well as commodities such as crude oil and gold that respond to geopolitical developments and inflation concerns.Analysis Preference:
I use fundamental analysis to determine the longer-term trends and technical analysis to determine short-term entry and exit points.Technical Study Background:
Support and resistance levels and trend lines.Advisory Background:
Bloomberg, MF Global Research, Mark Faber, Jim Rogers
Trading Strategies:
I believe the best approach is to maintain a clear understanding of how the global economy is unfolding. From that perspective, I develop medium- to long-term opinions about a variety of markets. I utilize short-term trading strategies to occur in the direction of the longer-term opinion.
